A passenger has left social media horrified after being caught drying his socks from the plane window.

The anonymous man was shamed on Instagram by many disgusted travellers.

In the picture, uploaded to Instagram account Passenger Shaming, the two white socks are wedged under the window shutter.

The image was sarcastically captioned: “Me doing my laundry on the way to LA this weekend! #MULTITASKING.”

It has since had more than 5000 likes, with many social media users left shocked by his actions.

One person wrote: “I can just imagine the stinky cheese smell from the wet disgusting socks.”

Another added: “What is wrong with these people??”

Others said they would never be able to use the windows on a plane again.

“I lift those shades many times with my son while flying … next time I will remember the feet juice,” a woman added:

“Not putting my head up against the window ever again,” another person agreed:

Some were more optimistic, saying: “Better the window than hanging from the air vents.”

An ex-flight attendant has previously warned guests not to travel without any socks or shoes on — as the bathroom floors are often covered in urine.

It isn’t the first time passengers have done their laundry on a plane.

A woman was caught drying her knickers using the overheard vent in the middle of a flight.

A group of travellers also tried to dry some of their clothes by hanging their wet swimming costumes over the back of the seats.
